We focus on the world around us during the month of March. The children especially enjoy exploring the idea of space – even though it’s an abstract concept for most preschoolers, it’s just too fun not to spend a little time learning about planets, astronauts, and rocket ships! Have you heard about our “space station” playhouse, complete with jet packs and switchboards? The Pre-K class also explores space through a variety of science activities, including balloon rockets and exploding moon rocks. Below is a poem we have been practicing:
Put on your spacesuit we're going to the moon.
Climb around the rocket ship. We’re going to blast off soon.
Put on your helmet. Strap yourself in tight.
Check your controls and instruments. Get ready for the flight.
Time for your journey. The countdown has begun.
Here we go, get ready, get set!

The children really enjoyed our Crazy Hat Day on Wednesday. We made our own crazy hats, decorated hat cookies (thank you to Hillary, Quinn’s mom, for making them!), and danced with our hats at music time. We also read Caps For Sale – a very favorite story for preschoolers year after year.
Our field trip to Teacher Leslie’s farm is Wednesday, March 16th. The children will get to meet Knit and Purl (the lambs) and all of the other animals on the farm. We will be driving to/from school so pick up and drop off will be normal for both classes.
