January at BCNS

It is so nice to see the children’s smiling faces back at school again!

We started the month reading stories and poems about snow and snowmen.  This will lead into the story The Mitten by Jan Brett.  Lots of fun activities to do with this wonderful book!  The month will finish up with a unit on Nursery Rhymes and storytelling.  The AM class will be making puppets and the children will be telling about them.  The PM class will be making fairy houses and create a beginning, middle and end to their stories.  These activities will be celebrated with a “show” on Wednesday, January 29th.  Please mark your calendars and plan to attend this fun event.  Siblings and grandparents are welcome!

At home you may hear about the “Gumdrop Tree.”  This is a BCNS tradition.  The special tree blooms just in January.  Each school day the children take a gumdrop off the tree and make a wish.

We have a special new friend at preschool now!  Snowball is our new BCNS pet!  He is only 6 months old and such a cute, furry white guinea pig!   He is very calm, quiet and wonderful with the children.
