We LOVE February at preschool! Even though we don’t celebrate Valentine’s Day at school with a traditional valentine exchange, we fill the whole month with similar themes that young child love – day/night, teddy bears, and friendship. The Pre-K class also includes our unit on letter writing, which is a perfect extension of the wonderful literature out there to support these topics.

And…of course there’s Pajama Day! Thank you to everyone who helped out with this fun day. Pajama Day at BCNS is an event that the children look forward to year after year. What could be better than wearing your pajamas to school, bringing along your favorite stuffed animal, and eating pancakes with your friends? (Teacher Kari is still in disbelief in the number of pancakes the Pre-K class ate … a little over 100!).

When we return from mid-winter break, our focus will shift to learning about family and home. Children love this topic, probably because it’s easy to talk about – everyone has a family and lives somewhere! This is a wonderful opportunity to discuss and celebrate how each family is the same and different.
