April at BCNS

Spring is here and the children are excited about the arrival of chick eggs to BCNS! The eggs will incubate right here at our school and, in about 21 days, little chicks will hatch right before our very eyes. Thank you to Kristin French for bringing this magical learning experience to our school.

Throughout the month of April we will be learning about animals that hatch from eggs - birds, insects, and frogs to name a few. Through stories, songs, and hands-on learning experiences inside and outside of the classroom, children will explore the concepts of habitat and life cycle. You won't want to miss the arrival of our baby chicks so stay tuned for the "birth announcement" sometime around the first of May.

The PM class will also be learning about basic story structure and the idea that stories have a beginning, middle, and end. The children will be "writing" their own stories and reading literature that clearly exemplifies this idea. Eric Carle books are excellent for learning about simple story structure and oviparous (those that hatch from eggs) animals.
