December at BCNS

Holiday traditions can provide wonderful opportunities for children to learn more about their own family values and create lasting connections with their community. It is through sharing these traditions with others that children begin to recognize and celebrate our differences as well as our commonalities, including love, kindness, respect for one another, and family.

Here are some special holiday traditions the BCNS teachers enjoy every year:

Teacher Kari and her family enjoy the holiday festivities in Seattle: the teddy bear suite at the Fairmount, the gingerbread houses at the Sheraton, the carousel at Westlake Center, and the trains at Seattle Center!

Teacher Kaye bakes holiday cookies using a recipe passed down three generations. She then makes at least five different colors of frosting and decorates them with her family.

Teacher Hillary and her family always go for a drive after dinner on Christmas Eve to look at the festive lights around the island. When they get home, Santa has left them new pajamas to wear for Christmas morning!

Teacher Anita, Teacher Jessica, and Teacher Leslie go to the Christmas tree farm with their respective families the day after Thanksgiving. They hunt for the “perfect” tree and take it home to decorate together!

We hope that you and your family enjoy a safe and healthy holiday filled with many memorable traditions that add joy (and not stress) to your life!
