November is a special month at BCNS! The preschool class focuses on transportation while the pre-K class explores community helpers and the many people who do so much to make our community great. Of course, there is a lot of overlap in these topics as well.
Some talking points with your child might include:
- What do the signs around town tell us?
- Who are some people in our community that help make our lives better, safer,
etc.? (librarians, police, firefighters, grocery store clerks, etc.)
- How can you help others in our community?
The firefighters and police will be visiting sometime this month. Because of the unpredictability of their jobs, the day of their visits are often a surprise for the children. If you would like to come in and share about your position as a community helper, please let your child’s teacher know. We love having families in the classroom.
November also brings up discussions about Thanksgiving. Being thankful is a difficult concept for many preschool-aged children but we do our best to acknowledge the spirit of Thanksgiving. It is a tradition at BCNS to read Stone Soup and create our own soup to eat at school with our friends.
We are thankful for our amazing BCNS community of families who make our school such a kind, safe place.
