September at BCNS

What a great start to the school year so far! We are enjoying getting to know the new children and becoming reacquainted with the many returning faces. Thank you for your help in getting your child to school on time, dressed appropriately for the weather, and ready for a fun day of learning through art and play.

In addition to getting to know each other and our school routines, we are also exploring topics related to seashores, shells, and boats this month. The children have a natural curiosity – as well as a lot of preexisting knowledge – about these topics thanks to the beautiful island that we call home.

We will also be celebrating a special birthday this month.... Souris the mouse! Souris is a BCNS tradition that goes back almost 40 years. She comes to school for every birthday celebration. We use Souris' birthday as a way to show the children how we celebrate birthdays at our school. We're sure you'll hear all about it!

School Rules: We have two rules here at BCNS: We are Kind and We are Safe. We spend time talking about how we are kind/safe with our friends, our teachers, our school, and ourselves! Having just a few, simple rules is helpful to refer to when conflicts arise.

October will have many volunteer opportunities – the pumpkin patch field trip and applesauce-making are just two of these fun events.

We thank you for all of your support and look forward to a wonderful year working together with all of you.
